Thinking spaces for cultural history

The Denkräume für Kulturgeschichte(n) will temporarily close its doors from November 2022 to return on 03.03.2023 under the motto "Wunderkammer 2.0" with an expanded and improved exhibition area as well as a new range of experiences!

The "Denkräume für Kulturgeschichte(n)" - a place full of history(s), art & Kuriosem!

On the one hand, they are home to the small but fine museum cabinet "Dr. Wolf's Wunderkammer", where scientific topics combine with pop culture and history(s) of all kinds to form a mixture of museum and Gesamtkunstwerk. Based on the aesthetic concept of historical chambers of art and curiosities, curiosity and enthusiasm are used here as an entertaining educational approach for the whole family. In dialogue with the extraordinary, the (almost) forgotten and the marvellous, the aim is to encourage visitors to become creative themselves - to develop new ideas from old knowledge and old objects. The artefacts collected by "Dr. Wolf" come from all areas of daily life, such as nature, art or technology, and invite us to rediscover the world we live in. The exhibited objects themselves already carry numerous stories, but are also waiting to be interpreted differently by the visitors. Free associations and mind games are expressly encouraged. But anyone who simply wants to sit back and relax in the cosy cushions of the house and listen to the doctor's partly scientific, partly anecdotal explanations is also welcome.

The exhibits in the Wunderkammer are complemented by the (almost) forgotten creatures from the "Forgotten Creatures" myth studio. In special guided tours, visitors can track down a wide variety of myths about nature and household spirits. Goblins, wood goblins, gnomes and corn gnomes - their names are numerous and yet only a few people still know them. New life is breathed into the legendary figures through elaborate and loving handicraft. This is how enchanting artistic figures are created, which can be discovered both during a visit to the Wunderkammer and in "probably Germany's smallest special exhibition".

The museum is made possible, among other things, by the charitable work of the association "Zeitsprünge e.V."

The Museum Shop is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12.00 - 18.00.
