Tast-Stadtmodell Nienburg/Weser

Short facts

  • Nienburg (Weser)

Nienburg in 1634, Egbert Broerken, 2019, bronze on sandstone base

The bronze relief shows the historical town structure of Nienburg (town gates, streets, squares, fortifications, landmark buildings such as the town hall, church and count's castle). The so-called Hammelmann plan from 1634 served as a model, when the medieval town, fortified with ramparts and ditches, was expanded into an early modern fortress under imperial occupation. It shows the great military importance of Nienburg in the 17th century. The project was realized by the historical society of Nienburg.
