The approx. 15 km long Wichtel tour requires a good basic level of fitness. The circular tour starts at the outdoor pool in Hohenhausen on mainly paved paths. The route leads via Westorf to the mountain village of Talle and on to Bavenhausen. In total, there are around 230 meters of elevation gain and some climbs of up to 8%. A pedelec is therefore recommended. Cyclists are rewarded with beautiful scenic impressions and views. There is a lot to discover, as the following highlights along the way show.
The Wichtel tour takes you past the following sights:
BERGDORF TALLE
Around St. Peter's Church, the Berggarten is a place of contemplation with around 40 historical burial monuments, various seating areas and a boules court and playground. Below the garden on the main road is the small listed half-timbered building "Tempelhaus" from 1838, which has been transformed into a public meeting place through extensive renovation work by the Dorfgemeinschaft Talle e.V.. A few hundred meters further along the Taller Straße, the Ilsetal rest area offers seating and picnic facilities for a stopover.
TALLER WICHTEL
The Taller Wichtel is located in Osterhagen, the smallest village in Kalletal. Here you not only have a wonderful all-round view of the Kalletal: the wooden carved Wichtel is a viewing tube through which you can look in one direction to the Hermann monument and the Bielstein transmitter. If you look the other way, you can see the Kaiser Wilhelm monument at Porta-Westfalica. A seating area invites you to linger here.
OBSTWIESENLEHRPFAD BAVENHAUSEN
An orchard trail runs between the elementary school and kindergarten in Bavenhausen. Information on the various habitats and their animals can be found on child-friendly
boards. An interactive game at the community's own
orchard of apple, plum and cherry trees invites you to linger. Further stations and information boards on environmental education can be found on the circular hiking trail
"Waldfreundeweg" through the nature reserve at Teimer.
DEELE BROSEN
Since the 1980s, the Kulturkreis Kalletal e.V. has been offering a mixed program of blues, folk, jazz, exhibitions and much more in the
tranquil village of Brosen in a rustic half-timbered house on its Deele. Information about the program at: www.deele-brosen.de
JACOBIDENKMAL IN HOHENHAUSEN
The natural scientist Stephan Ludwig Jacobi, who lived in Kalletal in the 18th century, made a name for himself as the inventor of artificial fish farming. Not only the Jacobi monument in Hohenhausen commemorates this well-known Kalletal personality, but also the community school and a bus line in Kalletal are named after him.
