Hiking in the Am Teimer nature reserve The village of Bavenhausen, located in the very south of the municipality of Kalletal and in the immediate vicinity of the town of Lemgo, offers the perfect starting and finishing point for a circular hike in its village center
On just under 5 km, there are child-friendly information stations with various environmental education topics. The trail, which also includes local restaurants, first leads past the Am Teimer nature park school and then along rustic nature trails through the nature reserve with a woodruff beech forest. The Teimer, one of the oldest nature reserves in the district of Lippe (since 1983), rises 326m above Bavenhausen and is home to a rich flora and fauna.
Continuing along the edge of the forest, you finally get a great view of the Bavenhausen windmill, which you reach later on. Once you reach the top of the windmill, a seating area and a landscape lounger invite you to rest and linger and offer a great view over the Lippe highlands.
From the village square, walk past the Rieke-Schulte restaurant up to the Am Teimer nature park school. Then turn right into the Teimer nature reserve. Through beautiful beech forest and idyllic forest paths, you return to the road in Rentorf and turn left at the bend at the T-junction back into the forest.
From here, you head north along the stream and pond. Past the refuge, turn left at the fish ponds towards the sports field. Crossing Bavenhauser Straße, the trail leads up to the Bavenhausen windmill. The path leads down Holländerweg back to the starting point, the village square.
