Lovable and liveable Morschen
The municipality of Morschen is a north Hessian community in the Schwalm-Eder district with a total of seven boroughs. This low mountain range landscape is characterised by the beautiful and wide formed Fulda valley with lush meadows, fairytale forests and generous meadowlands.
Morschen for friends of fairy tales
Altmorschen is the oldest and also the largest town in the municipality. The Haydau Monastery lies in the middle of the village, awakened from a deep sleep to new splendour. Impressively, the Cistercian convent of Haydau has been abiding in the community since the 13th century and is today one of the most famous and beautiful excursion destinations in the Schwalm-Eder district. Neumorschen is the second largest borough with just under 700 inhabitants. The historically significant Marktstraße has a wonderful street layout with a partially open water channel, and blends harmoniously into the existing buildings of the very well-preserved half-timbered houses.
The museum of local history in the Wichte borough with its lovingly designed historic village square awakens a touch of nostalgia and presents countless exhibits from the past, which is shaped by the landscape. In the Konnefeld borough, you will come across an old gypsum lake whose flora and fauna could not be more diverse. From here you have a fantastic view of the charming Fulda valley. The little village of Heina is surrounded by beech woods on an exposed hill. The northern Hessian low mountain range shows its most beautiful face from here. The small, dreamy village of Binsförth lies directly on the banks of the Fulda. The former manorial estate of Binsförth dating from the 16th century is still very well preserved today and, together with the village church, blends picturesquely into the overall picture of the village.
Morschen for holiday tourists and day visitors
A special ambience that combines tradition and innovation, nature and culture, local resilience and practicality with an air of cosmopolitanism.
A walk through the charming villages of Morschen with their historic half-timbered houses brings back memories of times long past. The lovingly designed village squares and alleys in the individual villages complete the picture. You can still experience the aura of the past even inside the old houses
Today the renovated monastery is well on the way to becoming a cultural and social centre once again. Concerts and other cultural events, conferences and seminars, as well as a number of private functions are held at the new Haydau Monastery. Culture and communication have not only found their place in the monastery and palace. The orangery, stables, courtyard and gardens are also very diverse and adaptable venues.
Let us enchant you!
