The Verden city forest covers an area of approx. 260 hectares to the north-east of the city center;

In addition to walking paths, there is a trim trail and an extensive network of bridle paths for horse lovers, including a riding and obstacle course.
A forest playground with a zip wire, slides, carousel and play equipment is available for children.
 
The "Verden Dunes" nature reserve (officially "NSG Dünengebiet bei Neumühlen") is part of the Verden municipal forest and was declared a nature reserve as early as 1930. Formed after the last ice age around 15,000 years ago, the inland dunes now cover an area of around 15 hectares. The dune area is only populated by individual pine trees and rough grassland. Information boards provide information about the area.
The adventure trail is marked with wooden pegs. It leads to a viewing platform that offers a beautiful view of the area.
