Short facts

  • Witzenhausen

The Liebfrauenkirche, the Protestant town church in the small town Witzenhausen in northern Hesse.

The church is located in the center of the planned town founded by the Thuringian landgraves with a regular urban plan. In 1266 it is mentioned as a parish church. The patron saints were initially the sovereign princes, the Hessian landgraves. They ceded this to the Kassel Martinsstift in 1368 until the Reformation.
