As the Franciscan priest Pankratius Rathscheck once described it, Herstelle Castle
presents itself "as a castle for the eye and, enchanted into the poetry of the Weser landscape, as a resting place that invites, as a centre of attraction for ideally orientated natures for the cultivation of science, love of the homeland, charity and religiousness". We, the Hörning family, would like to build on this heyday of the monument. Our new centre of life became a new life project and gave us the opportunity to fill the space, in all its meanings, with art, culture, especially music, and health in equal measure.

Annette von Droste-Hülshoff and the Brothers Grimm, to name just these well-known illustrious visitors to Herstelle Castle in the old days, were something like cultural pioneers. We are now continuing the series with contemporary artists and giving the spirit of the times a space with Herstelle Castle.

The Herstelle Castle Academy:
Practical workshops with nationally and sometimes internationally renowned lecturers are designed to help you apply the various techniques and develop independent, personal forms of expression.

We offer courses for beginners and advanced students in the following areas:

Painting - oil, acrylic, gouache and watercolour
Drawing and hyperrealistic drawing
Sketching / sketchbook
Collage and mixed media
Paper embroidery
Photography
Handlettering
Singing / voice training
What makes us so special as a course provider and organiser:

Courses in a historical ambience
Familiar and personal atmosphere
Communal meals in the conservatory or, in good weather, in the castle park with a view of the Weser
If there is sufficient demand, organisation of an evening together in the local gastronomy

The Kunst & Cultural Association Burg Herstelle e.V.
The aim of the association is to promote and realise artistic projects in the fields of visual and performing arts, photography, music and literature. A highlight of the year is the open-air concert in the castle park. In summer 2024, you can look forward to the nationally renowned Mark Knopfler Tribute Band. Herstelle Castle is also home to the MSBB Institute, where MSBB prevention coaches are trained. Coach seminars are offered here on a regular basis. There are also day and 10-week programmes for non-professionals.

Last but not least, we are a branch office of the Beverungen registry office.
