Klosterkirche Lippoldsberg

Short facts

  • Wesertal

The stylishly preserved Romanesque basilica is a tourist attraction.

The Romanesque basilica, which has been preserved in its proper style, is a tourist attraction as a "monument of national importance" and "historic site in the Weser Uplands".

The sublime simplicity of the old walls appeals to those seeking relaxation who follow the course of the river, those interested in history and pilgrims alike. If you are looking for information, a place to relax or simply a toilet, you will find it in the "Klosterpforte" visitor center right next to the main entrance. In the adjoining monastery shop there is coffee, regional products and a personal contact who will be happy to answer any questions.

With various concerts, picture exhibitions, readings, theater performances and open-air cinema, the monastery church with its numerous venues is a well-known cultural center with an impact on the region.

A traditional hostel invites (educational) groups to linger.

Directions

With the wheel

Lippoldsberg can be reached by bike via the beautiful and largely flat Weserradweg, which runs almost completely from Hannoversch Münden along the Weser to Cuxhaven. The main route runs directly through Lippoldsberg. If you take the secondary route on the other side of the Weser, it is advisable to take the ferry between Gewissenruh and Gieselwerder (not in winter!). Alternatively, you can cross the Weser over the bridge at Gieselwerder.

By train

Take the train to Bodenfelde, Northeim district. Without or with light luggage, the walk to the monastery church and hostel can be done in about 20 minutes.

By bus

Take the NVV bus line 194 to Lippoldsberg / Kreissparkasse, from there it is another 5 minutes on the signposted footpath.

By car

The motorway access roads in the north (Nörten-Hardenberg) and south (Hann. Münden / Lutterberg) are approx. 40km away from Lippoldsberg.
