Fantastic things:
The Vereinigung Malerstübchen Willingshausen e. V. (an artists' association) was organised to preserve the historical legacy of the painters' colony and to exhibit their and other artworks. The new construction of the art gallery in the Gerhardt-von-Reutern House in 2005 has made it possible to present several exhibits a year. The additional space also allows stipend holders of the artistic scholarship sponsored since 1996 by the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen to exhibit their creations in a modern gallery. Tradition and modernity are thus united to promote young artists to work in a historical location. A flyer of the exhibition program is published every year.
Participants of the Willingshausen painting school show their own works on the last Friday of every 14-day painting course in a vernissage held in the atelier of the Gerhard-von-Reutern House.

Creative courses (painting, drawing, sculpture, multimedia)
Painting has a long and rich tradition in Willingshausen. As one of the oldest painters' colonies in Europe, the community has become known well beyond German borders.
Current educational courses of the Willingshausen painting school offered for hobby painters hark back to this tradition. The courses are held all year long. Weather permitting, painting is done outdoors; if it is necessary to go indoors, the school has a roomy atelier. Participants create their own artworks under the guidance of academically trained professional artists. Particular emphasis is placed on individual support, which is why the groups are no larger than 7 persons.
There are also course leaders and docents for additional offerings in sculpture and multimedia.

The museum "Malerstübchen" is located in the Gerhardt-von-Reutern House. Paintings and photographs from the heyday of the painters' colony are exhibited here.
