The valley boasts charming half-timbered towns and districts such as Bad Sooden-Allendorf, Großalmerode, Eschwege, Witzenhausen, Wanfried, and many more. Numerous fortresses, castles, and fortified lookout towers (e.g. Burg Ludwigstein, Boyneburg Ringgau, Tannenburg Nentershausen)

Enchanting places:

The Hohe Meissner mountain massif is considered the home of Mother Hulda. The whole region is dotted with places referring to this well-known mythical figure of fairy tales and sagas. In the cities and various districts there are other sagas and legends which are frequently represented by a fairytale figure.
