Oberaula
Fantastic things:
Located on the southern slopes of the Knüll Mountains, Oberaula certainly is a centre of tourism in the Kurhessische Bergland region.
This climatic health resort has excellent restaurants and a great variety of accommodations. Guests and tourists will find a heated swimming pool, an indoor hotel pool, tennis courts (indoor and outdoor), bowling alleys and an 18-hole golf course. The hiking trail system extends 80 km; destinations of particular interest include Eisenberg Mountain (elevation 636 m, with look-out), Rimberg Mountain, Herzberg Castle and Steinmühle, an operational old watermill.
Enchanting places:
In the neighbouring town of Weißenborn (municipality Ottrau 34633), the Brothers' Grimm great-grandfather Adam-Heinrich Zimmer was born in 1680 and grandfather Johann-Hermann Zimmer in 1709. Local culture societies attached a commemorative plaque at their birthplace in 1986.
