Großalmerode
Fantastic things:
'Bilstein' look-out: Next to Meißner Hill with an altitude of 2,473 ft, the Bilstein, at an altitude of 2,106 ft, is the second largest elevation in the 'Meißner-Kaufunger Forest' nature preserve. More than 100 years ago, the look-out was erected on the crest of Bilstein Hill offering a panorama from the Harz to the Rhön Mountains and from the Sauerland region to the Thüringer Wald Mountains.
From the parking l
ot at the end of Kohlenstrasse, the shortest route to the Bilstein is the marked panoramic walking trail No. 3.
Opening hours:

Enchanting places:
Großalmerode Glass and Ceramics Museum
The Glass and Ceramics Museum offers an impressive exhibition of manufacturing methods and products created from the region's mineral resources. On three floors, interested visitors gain insight into glass blowing history and the various clay processing trades that have given the town its special flair over the last 800 years.
The exhibited ceramics range from colourful, lead-glazed crockery to special products such as melting pots, water supply pipes, ointment jars, roof tiles, clay pipes and much more.
As early as the 16th century, Großalmerode was widely known beyond the state borders as a centre of glass manufacturing; today, it still enjoys a worldwide reputation for its extraordinarily high-quality heat-resistant ceramic products.
Adjacent to the museum, there is a gallery of painter Heinrich Pforr presenting a cross section of the many-faceted, convincing work of this Laudenbach regional artist who portrayed the daily life at his time and the landscape around the Hohe Meißner elevation in his paintings.
