Münchhausen landma
rks are scattered throughout this historic Old Town which began on a former island. Tour what remains of the city's fortifications, see the city church St. Nikolai, Gertrudiskappelle with Corvinius gallery. Family von Münchenhausen's former estate includes today's Rathaus (Town Hall) as well as Schulenberg, a lovely grotto pavilion and hillside gardens. In the Kemnade district is a Gothic style Abbey Church.
Enchanting places:
Münchhausen Museum on the former estate of the Family von Münchhausen - Baron von Münchhausen was born in the manor house, built 1603 - 1609, that today serves as Town Hall. There is a local history museum. The Hunting Room (Jagdzimmer) of the adventurous Baron von Münchhausen, built in 1763, is found in the grotto pavilion.
