Enchanting places:
Alsfeld Fairy Tale House
Step over the threshold and enter a magical world. In this half-timbered house built in 1628, the rooms are filled with a variety of fairy tales. Hear beloved tales from days of yore in the listening room, this time told by a professional storyteller.
In our fast-paced lives, fairy tales are particularly special and certainly not only for children. Listening to legends unfold and come together offers something one cannot get through television, videos or computer games. Storytelling is interactive, direct communication on the human level. A story hour is a special occasion - an experience you won't want to miss.
The second floor contains a series of dolls' chambers spanning over two centuries. With only few exceptions, the parlours, kitchens and hearths displayed here are all from the Erzgebirge region. The varied chambers begin with the more recent and familiar from the 1950's and trace back to the first half of the 19th century. The parlours and particularly the hearth areas give the impression of a warm and comfortable idyll. Each represents the spirit of an era. And taken together, the collection is historical evidence of social development in the themes of childhood and childrearing in Germany.

Grabbrunnen: The well is an idyllic spot where, according to legend, the stork fetched newborn babies.
Leonard'sTower: This gate tower, called "stork nest" by the locals, was one of many towers built into the town's fortifications and is the only one remaining today. Dating from 1386, the round zinc-crowned structure is 27 m high and once adjoined massive city walls.
Schwälmer Brunnen:: The traditional goosegirl (Gänseliesel) at this fountain shows the Schwalm regional costume.
Herzberg Castle: this fortified castle nearly springs out of pages of a picture book. It is fully restored to its original form, carefully maintained, and visitor friendly.
You will see the Knight's Hall, towers and dungeon, living quarters and chapel.
Within protective walls that measure up to 5 m thick, it holds all the secrets of a castle. Knight's Hall (Rittersaal), court tower with dungeon and knight accessories, residential tower, combat training tower, combat chambers, Gothic chapel with grave plates, up to 5-m thick defence wall, stronghold and much more.
Come, it is worth a visit in any weather, every season. The tavern is a pleasant place to take a break or end your day on a perfect note.
