Bad Sooden-Allendorf - Rothestein Castle

The Baron of Gilsa started to build Rothestein Castle in neo-gothic style in 1891. But even so the English Baron of Knoop completed the building. The name "Rothestein" origins from the red sandstone on which the castle was built on. The current owner is Mr Theo Becker, who bought the estate in 1995. Gradually the castle's interior has been redeveloped from bottom to the roof. From today's point of view, much time and monetary resources must be invested until one day the castle will be completely rennovated. The terrace of the Manor house underwent elaborate renovation works and offers now a wonderful view overlooking the Werratal valley and Hoher Meißner mountain.
